Whoknows36 (37) from Cornwall, England, BUDE
About me
I'm happy as long as I'm learning and creating something new - but it makes all the difference to be able share life's experiences with someone... A sense of humour is all important, and if there's one thing that I ask of life, it's to be able to laugh till the end of my days. I've got one very important little girl in my life but there's plenty of room in my heart for more...

About me
- Where I liveBude was the most fantastic place to grow up, and with my daughter in the area I guess I'm happy to stick around as she does the same. The place has so much potential but sometimes it feels like people here are loathe to stick their necks out on ambitious projects - which I understand as it is fairly unspoilt. Everyone knows each other which can have the greatest, and the worst effect on your personal life and privacy. A lot of good people will look out for you, but equally there are a lot of small minded people with nothing better to do than to gossip or have their own little dramas.
- Where are you originally from?Orpington in Kent. Came to Cornwall when I was 7 and never looked back to the grey.
- Do you want to stay there?I would be loathe to move from the sea, and preferably the south west. (My daughter's here for a start!)
- What is your occupation?I'm a graphic designer working mainly on published adverts, but I also diversify into illustration and web sites when required.
- What have you done so far?I've been a GamesMaster at a Play By Mail company, a salesman in an electrical store, a draughtsman at a printing plate firm, and now self employed in my current role
- What are your future plans? To get better at writing and recording my own music, and to get better at my job! (And hopefully earn a more comfortable living!)
- Your perfect partnerSomeone open-minded, big-hearted, giving, loving, unselfish, FUNNY, supportive, interesting, passionate and enthusiastic.
Stuff I like
- What are you interests/hobbies?Music, movies, design, family, technology
- MusicI play in a band, and I write and record when I have the time. I listen to a LOT of music (I have quite a large collection). I used to go to a lot of gigs (Glastonbury every year for a while) until my daughter came along. Just starting to get active again now, now that she's older and living with her mum.
- Your fav tv seriesIt's a lot to ask but I adore Doctor Who. It's not the naff "only for geeks" series it used to be (Even though I, as a self-pronounced geek loved it) but possibly the best family drama on British TV. I still mourn the loss of Spaced - my generation's comedy series. You see shades of it in Shaun Of The Dead - which wasn't anywhere near as funny. Heroes is just fantastic.
- Your fav books/authorsI read a lot of fantasy. I get bored with real-life based fiction - if I'm going to read about real life I'd rather read a biography.
- What sort of movies do you like?Again sci-fi and fantasy essentially I'm afraid ladies, but then I love cultish drama and intelligent blockbusters. A well-acted movie can hold my attention quite easily. Also love animation of any kind (As long as Phil Collins isn't doing the soundtrack)
- Types of people you like?I like generous, open, non-judgemental people. I have no time for anyone who feels the need to belittle others to feel better themselves.
- What kind of people do you find attractive? Funny, different-thinking, intelligent, and usually modest people.
- FoodI like pretty much anything except coconut and nuts.
- DrinksSuffer humungous hangovers, so I only drink on special or rare occassions - I can quite easily have a great time being the only sober one in the room (Which means I usually get collared for driving) - but I love to get stupid every once in a while
- HolidaysI'd like to alternate lazy and hot with active and interesting - but for some reason winter sports have never taken my fancy. My favourite two holidays were Disneyland with my daughter, and Iceland back in the 90's (Just before Reckjavik got trendy) - fantastic!
- PetsI have a dog - and I generally like them as long as they're not small and yappy. I love cats - big respect to cats - totally self-serving and know exactly what they're doing. Hence they can be amazing creatures or complete little nightmares. Don't like sharks but then I've never met anyone with a shark as a pet so I think I'm okay there.
- Fav thingMy CD collection
- Fav PlaceBed - depending on the situation. Otherwise Reykjavik.
- What's your favourite radio station ?BBC 6 Music - no contest. Though I have to say Radio 2 has some pretty decent stuff on it like Radcliffe and Maconie
- What's your favourite tv station ?BBC2
- What's your favourite drink?Red wine
- What's your favourite food?Macaroni Cheese - or spaghetti carbonara - or steak and kidney pudding - or...
- What are your favourite activities? Not really a competitive person - except in music! So walking, running, out with the kids than sports. Got nothing against sport, and sometimes I'll enjoy watching a major game, but I'd rather be doing something creative with my time.
My attitude
- Family lifeI would love a traditional family - but obviously with my daughter with her mum, it's not as simple as that. However, I would love a home situation with my own family, and for her to be accepted into that as and when she's with me.
- Jobs&WorkingMy job doesn't feel like a job. I get up in the morning and look forward to being there and doing it (Unless I've got a particularly addictive music project on - in which case I'd rather be doing that) but how cool to feel like that about the thing that brings in the money?
- MoneyI'd rather not have to deal with it at all, but it brings choices. I wouldn't want to be rich, but I would like to not have to worry again.
- PoliticsI'm despondent with it. There are no longer any choices between the parties apart from on personality. There is no room for common sense (Not that there ever has been)
